The Star Lookout
A Maui Experience Above The Clouds*

Perched at the 2900' elevation level on the southwestern side of
Haleakala, on
Thompson Road off Highway 37. A stone's throw away from Grandma's Coffee House.
*Commentary: I visited this old Keokea neighborhood in Kula many times during my childhood. Later in high school, my bestfriend invited me to spend weekends with her, to sleep in the evening clouds and to wake by the morning sun. We took cool morning walks, listened to the birds and breathed the fresh country air. When I pass The Star Lookout now, I know that this is where you can experience old Maui--Jackie/maui-coast.com.
| Temperatures during the day range between 70 to 80 degrees. Night time temperatures in the winter can dip to the mid-'50s, so bring a sweater for star gazing! The air is dryer and more comfortable than at sea level, where humidity and sugar cane smoke can create problems for some visitors. |
